3. Moving to Supergirl
for a moment...issue #35 basically
reset the character,
and is showing us the “real” story of what’s
been going on with her. What’s your take on
what Sterling is doing with the character?
DD:
Sterling is one of the rising stars here at
DC. You always get the question of where are
the new writers coming from, and who are the
talents we’re looking to grow, and Sterling
is definitely one of them. We just put him
under an exclusive contract as well, because
we have a lot of belief and faith in his
abilities. He’s done a great job with
Supergirl - he’s been able
to take what’s been going on in the Superman
books and bring that level of focus and
depth to Supergirl and I
feel as if he’s really solidified the
direction of that series. The great part
also in New Krypton, we’ve
had the introduction of Supergirl’s parents
in Kandor – that really helps to build a
strong supporting cast for that series, and
Sterling has a great handle on what to do
with that book. He’s the writer for the
future of Supergirl.

SUPERGIRL
MOVES UP
Issue #34 gains 23.01% in sales
posted November 2008
|
Supergirl
sales jumped 23.01% in October with issue #34,
introducing fans and skeptics to new series writer
Sterling Gates and ongoing penciller Jamal Igle -
the men responsible for a fresh approach to a
character that saw consistent drops in sales over
the last three years.
Although the Girl of Steel's rise in ranking to no.
75 seems a bit disheartening, the title sold 33,953
units and was the highest selling title starring a
female.
KaraLives.com
caught up with series artist Igle and he offered a
brief statement regarding the success of his first
issue.

New Krypton
The world welcomes 100,000 Kryptonians
posted November 2008
|
A
new community has been resurrected near the polar
Fortress of Solitude.
After the true BRAINIAC ventured to Earth and
captured Metropolis in a bottle, Superman has delivered
his Kryptonian race to a new home in the Arctic. It was
revealed in the most recent "NEW KRYPTON" storyline that
100,000 Kryptonians from KANDOR and Argo City
had survived inside BRAINIAC's skull ship held within a
bottled city.
As the survivors adapt to their
new surroundings, the powers gifted to the alien race by
Earth's yellow sun have begun to manifest. It will be
interesting to see if Kryptonians, who have had a
tumultuous history thus far will accept Superman's
peace-keeping mentality OR respond with a more
authoritative attitude.

Why the World DOES
NEED A SUPERGIRL
Kara puts herself back in the limelight
as she saves Earth
posted October 2008
|
Proving
that she is worth having around, SUPERGIRL saved
Earth from complete annihilation after BRAINIAC sent a
star destroying laser hurling toward the sun.
Being able to help out with
situations like these when Superman is concerned or
wrapped up in other superhero actions, just proves why
the world DOES NEED a Supergirl.
The look on her face as she
stops the weapon reveals that the Girl of Steel
takes her position as Superhero seriously now and stakes
claims that her intent is be a better hero and make
those that look up to her proud!!!
So take that Cat Grant -- I
don't see a retraction coming from you anytime soon!

Argo
City Survives!!
Action Comics storyline reveals Kara's
flight from Krypton
posted October 2008
|
DC Comics continues their "SILVER
AGE" conversion into the modern continuity of
Superheroes with the revelation that Argo City survived
Krypton's destruction.In
the most recent Geoff Johns Action Comics storyline
entitled "BRAINIAC", Supergirl was reunited with her
parents - Zor-El and Alura - along with 100,000 other
Kryptonians who were held captive aboard Brainiac's
skull-ship in the true bottled city of KANDOR.
While attempting to rescue the
city, Superman hears Zor-El's voice inside and is told
that during Kandor's shrinking and ultimate theft, the
shield technology that Brainiac used was tested and
studied by Zor-El and Alura which allowed them to dome
Argo City enabling them to survive for a short time in
space. When Brainiac realized that his technology was in
use, he came looking and found the floating remnants.
Knowing their doom, Zor-El and Alura sent their daughter
Kara to earth to find the baby Kal-El knowing that
Brainiac would soon come calling for him.

Who is Linda Lang?
Kara Zor-El undercover
posted October 2008
|
Reeling
from the article "WHY THE WORLD DOES NOT NEED A
SUPERGIRL", Kara Zor-El wiped her tears and realized
the importance of being a role model.
Along with
those realizations, the Maid of Might broke her public
hiatus and adopted the alter-ego "LINDA LANG" -
claiming to be the niece of Lana Lang from Smallville.

Cat
Grant Sharpens Claws
And pounces on Supergirl
posted October 2008
|
Cat Grant let the fur fly when she
attacked Supergirl for all her heroics gone bad
recently.
With her return to the Gossip
column at the "DAILY PLANET", Grant showed that when it
comes to opinions - she has them.
The article titled "WHY THE
WORLD DOESN'T NEED A SUPERGIRL" attacked the Maid of
Might for her numerous foibles since her cape touting
days began on Earth. It is clear that Cat has it out for
anyone getting more attention than herself and looks to
be a ongoing catfight!

entire story!!!
